Artists & Farmers / Lindy Bishop - Somebodies Show
This past summer I hosted a show in the gallery called SOMEBODIES, A Community Portrait. Since I was turning 50, I thought it would be fun to paint over 50 portraits of people in town and ask them questions about what drives them and what they like about this little town of Elk Rapids, Michigan.
A couple of artists, Paula Cordes and Joani Braun, also had a grouping of portraits in the show.
It is the end of December and I am still working on portraits and tuning my style. I'm working with oil sticks and oil over an acrylic color field. The exercise has been a challenge and a chance to develop.
Many people have purchased their portraits for Christmas. It's been fun. The questions were:
What is your livelihood? What keeps you young? What gets you high? What are you afraid of? What are the top five places you visit in Elk Rapids other than work and home? What would be good for Elk Rapids?
